Recently my partner Greg Caulfield (Caloundra Malibu Club) and myself took a trip to Cambodia and India where we went to visit Destiny Rescue’s operations. Destiny Rescue is a Sunshine Coast organisation saving children from sexual slavery and human trafficking around the world.
We spent a day in each orphanage/rescue homes engaging with the children and their carers to gain an understanding of the difficulties these children face on a daily basis.
We took knitted dolls with us, made with love by generous members of our community for children they would never know. To witness the smiles on the children’s as we handed over the dolls, was an unforgettable experience full of emotion and excitement.
Upon our return, we felt compelled to help Destiny Rescue in India build a safe house for children who have found themselves involved in under age prostitution.
We are holding a fund raising day – ‘Paddle for a Purpose’ 26 September 2015 at the Rotary Park, Cotton Tree for a 8am sign on.
This morning will be a series of races on anything that can be paddled and sure to be heaps of fun.
All monies raised will go directly to Destiny Rescue India.
Paddle for a Purpose is well on the way to being a huge success, with over $15,000 already donated from local businesses.
There will be a band, numerous market stalls, food, coffee and entertainment for the kids.
Prizes and raffles will include accommodations on the Sunshine and Gold Coast, Purple Palate wine, LayLin Massage, Massage Central, Ocean Addicts – Sup Paddle, a BMW for a weekend, as well as many smaller prizes which will be handed out as spot prizes during the day.
We would love to have your support for this family fun day with a purpose.
Please send this email to your club members and encouraging them to register for this event.
